This video goes over how to test a cars relay. We will be testing the relay out of the car with a battery, jumper wires, and a power probe. I will show you how to test a 3 4 and 5 pin relay.
RELAY TESTING STEPS: PINS: Control Circuit (shows resistance 50 to 120 ohms) 86 Power In (example: from Ignition Key) 85 Ground
Switch Circuit that controls Accessory Item (ie STARTER MOTOR)
30 Power In HOT
87 Power Out
RELAY TEST 1 Set meter to 200 ohms, Test for resistance between 85 and 86 (Circuit with COIL) Acceptable range 50 to 120 Ohms, example 70 ohms is GOOD BELOW 50 or ABOVE 120 ohms = Relays is BAD
RELAY TEST 2 Listen for a click Supply 12 volts Power to 86 Ground to pin 85 You will hear 87 to 87a closing CLICK
RELAY TEST 3 Supply power to 86 and Gnd to 85, this circuit ENERGIZED now check for resistance between pins 30 and 87 Set meter to 2000 OHMS Look for LITTLE or 0 resistance
RELAY TEST 4 with TEST LIGHT or light bulb Supply power 12 volts to 86 and Gnd to 85, this circuit ENERGIZED Supply 12 volts to pin 30 Ground your test light and TOUCH 87 to see light come on.
The most important things to check when buying a used car.
In this video, I’ll be going over how to inspect a used car before buy/purchasing it. The most important things to check like the engine and transmission, inspecting your fluids inspecting the body for rust or damage from an accident.
If you’re purchasing the car or truck for resale, you’re going to want to make sure you get it at a price that will be profitable. Also, it will be very important to make sure a vehicle is going to be registerable and inspectable.
Is the vehicle’s title is good
You’re going to want to make sure the vehicle’s title is good. Making sure the title is not a salvage title. You want to make sure the used car you are buying has no types of leans on the title. Also, make sure the back of the title is filled out properly. If not it could stop you from being able to register the car. Carfax history https://www.carfax.com and Kelley Blue Book value https://www.kbb.com is always a must if you really want to know what you getting into.
Check for OBD2 codes before buying a used car
Also scanning for code and making sure all the obd2 monitors are set is very important. Here are a few options for small affordable scan tools on Amazon.
Scan tool I use for checking cars computer before buying
Major takeaways from this used car buying guide video
Always make sure the title is clean and transferable.
Check Kelly Blue book value of the used car you are buying to make you are getting at a good price point. Even more important if you plan on flipping this car for a profit.
Checking carfax is always a very smart idea. You can check the service history and find out if the used car or truck has been in any accidents along with making sure the milage of the car matches up with its service history so you know for sure the odometer has not been altered.
Checking for rust and body damage is also a very import inspection item due to the possibility of failing a state safety inspection.
Always be sure to get the used car you are looking to buy up to full operating temperature to make sure there are no overheating problems.
A thorough test drive is always a must. Check transmission for good smooth shifting while listening for any noises of any kind.

If your battery light is on in your car or truck this video is for you. When your battery light comes on you need to know what that means. In this video, I will go over the reasons you batter light would come on and what you can do if your alternator has stopped charging.
In this video we will be diagnosing a P0087 Fuel rail system pressure to low, P0148 fuel delivery error, and a P053f cold start fuel pressure performance. So of you have any of these codes stored in your car computer one the first things you should check is the high pressure fuel pump. Most newer car have direct injection fuel systems and in turn new a high pressure fuel pump to supply fuel pressure to the fuel injectors.
In most cause the high pressure fuel pump runs of the cam shaft and in the video I have remove the the pressure fuel pump so show you the damage it has cause to both the fuel pump and the camshaft.

Honda Code P1298 load detection circuit.
2002 CR-V 2.4
2003 CR-V 2.4
2004 CR-V 2.4
Customer Concern: The check engine light is on. Trouble code P1298. This code is for the Electric Load Detection (ELD) circuit. The ELD unit is built into the under hood fuse box and works like an electronic Throttle Position Sensor (TPS) and monitors current flow so the Engine Control Module (ECM) can control the charging system.
Average Reported Mileage: 111827
Tests/Procedures: 1. Verify that the Black (BLK) wire is a ground. The Green/Yellow (GRN/YEL) wire has battery voltage and the Green/Red (GRN/RED) wire from the ECM should have 4.5 to 5 volts reference voltage, unplugged.
With the connector plugged into the fuse box, and the vehicle running, as electrical loads are turned on, the voltage on the GRN/RED should drop. Normal voltage is 3 volts no load and 1.5 volts high load. If the voltage always stays at 4.5 volts, the ELD is not changing the voltage, so the ELD is faulty and will need to be replaced.
Tech Tips: Refer to Honda TSB #05-006. The ELD is now sold without the complete fuse box.

Fuel Injector Testing Hack P0201 P0202 P0203 P0204 P0302 and this video will be diagnosing a cylinder to misfire where the fuel injector has failed. I’ll also be showing you a cool little hack where you can test for fuel injector signal without a noid light. As always you should you the proper test equipment. You can get noid light test kit on Amazon here: https://amzn.to/2UaVQWP
Also, I wanted to add which I should have mentioned in the video a lot of times when the computer sense has a problem in the fuel injector circuit shut off power to that fuel injector so prior to testing the fuel injector circuit I recommend clearing the computer codes then testing your fuel injector signal. On this vehicle, I found fuel injector bad. Check out The Flat Rate Mechanics Tool Store on Amazon https://goo.gl/M8MpdC Subscribe to my youtube channel here: https://goo.gl/j1pCfn
In this video I will go over a few tips on how to successfully remove an old oxygen sensor out of a rusty exhaust manifold or exhaust pipe.
Also here’s a link to the O2 sensor tool kit that are used in the video
Cool trick to remove an O2 sensor. If your car has check engine light on for a bad oxygen sensor code, that means it needs replacing. Oxygen sensor location, diagnosis, removal and repair.
All right flat rate mechanic again and
I just wanted to go over a few tips that
will help you replace your o2 sensor.
Because a lot of times over the years
these things, between the heating up and
cooling and the rust a lot of times oxygen sensors
like to get stuck inside the exhaust
manifold or the exhaust itself.
So Probably first off and probably the most
important tip I can give you guys is to
get the exhaust nice and hot before you
attempt to remove this and you wont
necessarily need a torch or
anything like that.
Just run the engine for a while hold the RPMs up to
maybe about 2,000 rpms for five
minutes or so and that will get that
exhaust nice and hot.
That’s going to aid in getting the oxygen sensor
out. Also a lot of
times you’ll be able to break these
loose but they’ll actually start to take
the threads out as you pull it from the
exhaust
The reason why is, the tip inside the exhaust
will get rust build up on it, so as you’re
threading it out the rust will tend to take the
threads of the exhaust out as well.
So what you want to do is just break the o2 sensor
loose and then spray some penetrating
oil down around there and just work it
back a few times.
That’s going save your threads. Also they have some pretty nice oxygen sensor removal kits out there that you can find on Amazon or your tool truck. Whatever you prefer but I actually picked this one up to Amazon relatively cheap here https://amzn.to/2IbVcaf it also comes with a thread chaser.
So if you pull the oxygen sensor out and it does damage the threads
you can run it back down through
before reinstalling it.
You’re always going to want to use some kind of anti-seize or carbide stuff to. Most oxygen sensors come with them as well.
Also, I highly suggest you get an OE replacement or close it. Do not replace your o2 sensor with a Universal O2 sensor. Where sometimes they’ll have the wires we you have to wire in your own pigtail connector.
Those senses are very problematic and a
lot of times will fail just due to poor
connection being for where you spliced
it in. so always go for the OE style
that has a correct connector on it. just
to save yourself a lot of trouble down
the road.
I think that’s about it off
top of my head. but yeah I mean if it doesnt
come out, torches are very handy too.
You would heat up around the o2 sensor itself and worst-case scenario if that thing just is not coming out and it takes all the threads. I have had to weld a new oxygen sensor bungs onto the exhaust.
And this video I will be diagnosing a bad evap vent solenoid. We already smoked the EVAP system for leaks once and replaced the EVAP vent solenoid with an aftermarket vent solenoid.
Witch ended up failing two weeks after installation. And this video will show you how to diagnose a bad part and what we found once we remove the EVAP vent solenoid.
